Description:
The fish has an oval and compressed body with a terminal mouth. Its eyes are placed high on the head. The body is silvery brown dorsally, and fading to creamy yellow ventrally. Three downward curving horizontal dark stripes run across its silvery body with the lowest stripe reaching the middle rays of its truncated caudal fin. Its spinous dorsal fin has a distinct black blotch.
